VCC ranked among the best

The Vancouver Convention Centre has been recognized as Best Convention Center (100,000 – 500,000 square feet of exhibit space) by EXHIBITOR Magazine. The award-winning facility, owned and operated by B.C. Pavilion Corporation, was also included in the publication’s first annual Centers of Excellence list in October.

The award was announced in December in conjunction with Expo! Expo!, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ (IAEE) annual meeting and exhibition. Three additional convention centres were recognized in categories based on their total available exhibit space including Las Vegas Convention Center, San Diego Convention Center and Overland Park Convention Center. The Anaheim Convention Center and Minneapolis Convention Center were also recognized for Best Expansion or Renovation Project and Best Customer Service & On-Site Support, respectively.

“It’s an honour to once again be recognized by EXHIBITOR Magazine alongside such a prestigious group of facilities,” said Craig Lehto, General Manager, Vancouver Convention Centre. “We strive to provide our clients with a venue experience that is unique, sustainable and exceptional, and our success is a testament to our team’s passion and continued commitment to excellence.”

Situated centrally on Vancouver’s downtown waterfront, the venue’s connected East and West buildings offer a combined total of 466,500 ft2 (43,340 m2) of flexible meeting, exhibition and plenary space and is host to upwards of 550 events a year including notable events such as TED, Women Deliver 2019, and Sleep Expo 2019. The only double LEED Platinum certified convention centre, the Convention Centre is also recognized for its global leadership in environmental sustainability.

Travis Stanton, editor of EXHIBITOR Magazine, said of the recipients, “These six facilities range dramatically in size, from 60,000 to nearly 2 million square feet of exhibit space. And they vary in geographic location, from the American Southwest to the Canadian province of British Columbia. But they all share one thing in common, and that’s a commitment to excellence.”

Vancouver is a centre of excellence in CleanTech, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources and consistently attracts global conference from these important innovation sectors to leverage the city’s knowledge capital.
